RPG workout tracker
RPG workout tracker
GymLevels is an RPG-style workout tracker for iOS and Android: every set you log earns XP toward your player level, your quiz answers give you a class, and achievements and rotating challenges reward consistency. Here are the actual mechanics.

Experience points
How you earn XP
XP is earned per completed set, so harder training earns more. For weighted exercises the amount scales with volume (weight × reps): a 60 kg × 10 set is worth about 84 XP. Other exercise types have their own rules:
- Bodyweight sets earn a fixed amount per rep.
- Timed holds earn XP by duration.
- Cardio earns XP by distance, or by floors on a stair climber.
- Personal records earn double XP on weighted and bodyweight sets.
The XP from each set also flows to the muscles the exercise trains (the full amount to primary muscles, less to secondary ones), which is what moves your muscle ranks.
Levels
The level curve
Each level needs more total XP than the last, so early levels come quickly and later ones take sustained training. Total XP needed, from the app’s level formula (checked 24 September 2026):
| Level | Total XP |
|---|---|
| Level 2 | 200 |
| Level 3 | 375 |
| Level 5 | 875 |
| Level 10 | 3,000 |
| Level 25 | 16,875 |
| Level 50 | 65,000 |
Classes, quests and loot
The rest of the game layer
- Player classes. Strength Seeker, Mass Builder, Endurance Hunter, Balance Warrior, Recovery Specialist and Athlete Elite, assigned from your onboarding quiz (for example, a “lose fat” goal gives Endurance Hunter).
- Challenges. Daily and weekly challenges rotate automatically, and a monthly boss challenge carries a big XP reward. You pick a difficulty from easy to nightmare.
- Achievements. Grouped into categories such as consistency, strength, volume and PR hunting, with rarities from common to legendary. You claim each one for XP.
- Streaks. Train on your scheduled days to keep the streak alive; premium members get up to two automatic streak freezes a week.
The tracker underneath
Still a proper workout log
The game layer sits on top of normal training tools: a large exercise library with demo videos, custom exercises, saved workout templates, supersets, a rest timer, suggested weights and reps from your history, an estimated one-rep max, a plate calculator, bodyweight tracking and a full workout history.
FAQ
Common questions
What is an RPG workout tracker?
A workout log with role-playing game mechanics on top: you earn experience points for training, level up a character and unlock achievements. GymLevels is one, for iOS and Android, built around real strength training.
How is XP calculated in GymLevels?
For weighted sets, XP scales with weight × reps: roughly weight × reps × 0.14, so a 60 kg × 10 set earns about 84 XP. Bodyweight, timed and cardio sets have their own formulas. A personal-record set earns double.
What do levels unlock?
Nothing is locked behind levels. Your level is a running record of the training you've logged, with level-up moments and achievements at milestone levels.
Does my player class change my workouts?
Mostly it's identity: a badge, colour and artwork chosen from your quiz answers. The one practical effect today is that Mass Builder gets a small preference for splits that hit its priority muscles. You can change class any time.
Are the generated workouts AI?
No. Today's Workout is chosen by rules: it looks at which muscles have recovered, your equipment, injuries and preferred session length, then picks a split and suggests weights and reps from your history.
Does GymLevels cost anything?
Yes. All features need GymLevels Pro: a subscription in the app store (weekly or annual) or a Level-Up Plan from the quiz on gymlevels.com.
